We have grown Leyland Cypress for Christmas trees since the 1980s. While shearing in 2020, we noticed a few of our Leylands had unique characteristics that made it a superior Christmas tree.  Once we were sure we had something unique and desirable, we gave it the name “Jingles”and started propagating them. Our first batch of liners will be limited and ready for shipping in Oct 2022.
  • Jingles is similar to the regular “Leighton Green” Leyland but with fuller, finer foliage, a slightly different green color
  • A tad slower growing than “Leighton Green” and takes longer to root but performs well in good soils.
  • So far, Jingles has shown resistance to disease which could make it desirable as a privacy screen.

Hardy in zones 6 – 9, “Jingles” Leyland Cypress (Cupressocyparis leylandii) has set the standard for fast growing evergreen tree screenings with its beautiful, dense, year-round green foliage. Leyland Cypress grows to 50 feet high, 15 feet wide. Establishes quicker than Thuja Green Giant and is more drought tolerant when it is young. Leyland Cypress is also the most popular Christmas tree on Southern Choose & Cut Christmas tree farms. Space 6′ – 7′ for a quick screen. The Leyland Cypress trees we are offering are from the same source used to grow the 2004, 2009, & 2012 SC State Blue Ribbon Christmas Tree.
