New Research:  Japanese Momi Fir (Abies Firma) is coming to the rescue of many Fraser Fir Christmas tree growers in NC.  Fraser Fir and other firs have become quite susceptible to Phytopthora (a root rot disease).  Now, because of it's strong, resistant root system, growers are beginning to graft Fraser onto Japanese Momi Fir rootstock.  The results seem positive with some evidence that Frasers may actually grow faster once grafted to this hardy Abies Firma.

BEFORE DIGGING, call your local utilities to identify the location of any underground utilities.

These plants do not require a very big hole, but if your ground is hard, loosen it up as much as possible so the roots will have easy access to grow.
